----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Warren; I have been meaning to disclose the final resting place of the Pompano Beach Coupe for some time. However, it seems like I always have 20
other things to do. After several different attempts to arrest the corrosion, I finally put a 5 inch brass wire brush on my 1/2 inch electric drill and boldly removed the paint/corrosion on any and all suspect places (there must have been at least 75 of them). Then I used phosphoric acid to etch and hopefully slow the corrosion down on each of these places, and primed with zinc chromate. I bought a large roll of 16 inch aluminum flashing material (I think it was only .010 inch thick) and used pop rivets to patch all the holes. Finally we bought a gallon of 10 year guarantee, gloss white, latex, outside house paint and painted the "Gimmee Coupe" in her final display colors. (a quart of bright red was an overkill for the trim). I replaced the windshield with the aluminum flashing and with the help of some 12 mil duct tape it looks decent. We have seen lots of vehicles stop to take a long look, and the neighbors tell us that they have absolutely no problem giving directions to their places any more. I added leaky Alon fuel tanks after these first pictures were taken, and I was able to sell the badly corroded Cleveland wheels and brakes for enough to pay for the trip to go get the Gimmee Coupe.
