In my limited Coupe experience, I noticed that
the reinforcement piece for the cowl section that
opens is frequently broken, and has been repaired
several times.

This is especially apparent on the left side where it is
cut out for the cabin heater muff.

It seems to be made out of 1 1/4" wide .040 stuff bent at a
90 degree angle.

Why not fashion this from say 1/16th angle stock? or if
not, then from heavier material? Will there be a clearance problem?

I am going to make a new cowl and would appreciate any insight.
Thanks

Paul
