Hi Group,
Since this is getting to be a 'group' conversation I'll address my
reply to 'all' instead of individually.
It's a rare day that I receive under 100 messages. I'd say that
about
2/3 of them are from the coupers list.
I agree that there is a lot of 'non-technical' stuff that goes
onto the
list but other than the ocassional foul language and hurt feelings it
usually concerns airplanes even though it may not be 'coupe-tech'. Like
a joke about aiplanes in general for example. I know, we get a fued
going once in a while, but splitting probably won't stop that. When
some one thinks he must have the 'last word' it will just keep going on
and on and on.
I hurt someones feelings a short time ago but forwarding a joke to
the
group that I thought was pretty funny and it was about airplanes. One
person in our group took it personally and I got 'flamed' by only that
one person. I immediately appologized to him directly and also sent a
blanket appology to him and to the group. That didn't end it so I sent a
few comments to a few individuals who seemed to need the last word on
the subject and it finally died out. I think Tom also stepped in finally
on that one and made an "Official" comment on it. I even sent a private
message to Tom and appologized for starting it all. I received several
'direct' replies from people who said I shouldn't have appologized as it
was indeed a very funny joke and they said if they had received it they
also would have forwarded it to the group.
What do you all think about leaving it as one group for a little
while
longer, and see if we can't 'clean it up' a little? I'll do my best to
stay on more business and less gossip if that will help hold us together
on a single listing. And I'll also try and do even more 'direct
contacting' if that will help.
I already try to make most of my 'non-tech' replies direct to the
originator or the person who forwarded it to me. I think we could be a
little more careful in this area and remain on only one list instead of
splitting.
On the other hand, if we do split then I probably won't subscribe
to
the 'social' thread. That will cut down on my workload somewhat, but
I'll miss out on some of the semi-interesting 'gossip' that I'm getting
now. The stuff I now receive that isn't interesting, I just hit the
delete key, that sounds like a better solution (to me) than splitting
the group.

Just my two cents worth......

BTW, If we do split, who will start it, monitor it and be the referee?
Since Tom wanted this to be an 'Ercoupe' oriented page, I can't really
expect him to start a 'social' page and use his time to monitor it also.
Again, just my humble oppinion........Sorry to be so long winded.
