On the subject of changing parts from coupe to coupe.... read your type certificate for your airplane, and notice that for any given model of Ercoupe there is a list of serial numbers that qualify for that particular model. If your coupe is a 415c, you can interchange any parts from any coupe that is within the alloted serial numbers FOR THAT MODEL ONLY as a minor maintenance action. If you choose a part from a different model and serial number batch you must then seek field approval on a 337 form. Not many of them know the Ercoupe, so they'll want to see engineering level approval- hard to come by.
