Coupe owners have two options when it comes to their fuel system. [1]
They
can continue with the existing 3-tank system and make the necessary
repairs,
or [2] You can install the 2-15-gal wing tanks.
It is not possible for anyone to convince those who are happy with their
3-tank system to change. My only comment that cannot be disputed is, "If
the 3-tank system were designed into any production airplane today, the
FAA
would not approve it."
I installed the two wing tanks in my Alon because of leaks in the
system.
The amount of work required to remove the header tank was enough for me to
say, "That 30 year-old tank is NOT going back in! I made the choice on my
own. I have NEVER regretted it. And I would do it again in a heartbeat!
To those who are happy and content with their original system, I do not
have a problem with your decision. It does work, and that appears to
satisfy
your needs. So why change it? The choice becomes and individual decision.
Hopefully, this does not escilate into a raging fire that I have seen on
this wonderful chat system.
