Thanks one and all for your comments on circuit breakers and plugs.

I researched the archives on the Areonca list and came up with the fact
that there was a shorter version of the REM37BY spark plug at one time.
Some chap had an STC to use it with the Continental Engines up to and
including the 0-200. According to the list, Champion was going to
re-introduce
this shorter plug, and this chap was going to apply for an STC to use it.

Apparently Aeronca people also have to cut holes in their cowl for plug
clearance. I had a Champ for 3 years (64-67), and I did have a shielded
ignition harness and had no holes in the cowl. I cannot remember what
plug I used though.

I guess my problem with the bulges are that mine are made of a fiberglass
material. They are ill fitting and plain ugly. They give the plane a
"baleing
wire" appearance. My cowl will need some major work in the future. (read
this as make a new one) I think when that is accomplished I'll replace the
"blisters" with aluminum ones that fit properly.

On the circuit breaker. Thanks for some ideas. I have made my living in
the electrical-electronic field since the middle 50's. The wiring in my
plane
flat makes me nervous. I want all the 50 year old rubber and cotton
insulated
wire out. There is also a lot of added PVC garbage that doesn't belong in
an airplane.

Eventually all the wiring will be Teflon or equivalent insulated, and
sized
properly. I've got a head start, since when the Escort 110 was replaced
with the new King radio all this wiring was upgraded. The transponder
also was installed using current spec wiring.

The generator that is installed is the 35 amp unit. This surprised me.
I expected a little bitty one that couldn't keep up with my landing light.

Bye the way, the subject of oil consumption came up a day or so ago.
My engine had Millenium Cylinders installed around 400 hours ago. It
looks like I will be adding a quart of oil between 25 hour changes.
I have 2 hours and 15 minutes till the next change and am down about
1/3 to 1/2 quart. I added one quart since the change. From your comments
I would assume that my oil consumption is ball park.

Thanks one and all for your comments and advice.
