Coupers; At the Athens, TN fly in, someone told me about having problems with new cylinders. Apparently the aftermarket cylinders required the use of OEM pistons and either the fit or clearance was not proper causing overheating and scuffing of the pistons. Maybe even worse, because the Couper indicated that three sets of cylinders were required in less than 200 hours.
Has anyone else had or know of a problem like this? I am in the middle of a C-85 overhaul, and do not want to make a big mistake purchasing new cylinders which have this kind of problem. I do not remember who told me about the problem. Nor do I know if the baffling was checked and in what sort of environment this problem occurred. I would greatly appreciate any info you all may have. Thanks in advance. Lynn Nelsen N99387 52FL
