Warren, I want to thank you for taking the time and effort to mail me (us)
your drawings, etc., for removing the hat shelf and installing the
extended
baggage.
I showed everything to my AP/IA and he went directly to his microfich and
it
did show the factory option as a "Family seat". He went on to say that
this
option already has an STC approval from the factory when the airplane was
built. This STC is now owned by UNIVAIR. Since there are parts involved
with this installation, you MUST have PMA approved parts or he would not
sign it off.
I then contacted UNIVAR and told them we had a considerable number of Alon
owners who wished to make this change. They got back to me and said they
woud consider making a kit for this change, that included copies of the
original STC approval for installation IF (Note the caps "IF") we could
get
together and order enough units to make it worthwhile.
At this point, I would like all the ALON owners out there to contact me
with
their name and address if they are interested in this conversion.
Remember,
the more we order, the cheaper the unit cost will be. This is another
consideration UNIVAIR wanted us to take into account. THEY WOULD NOT be
interested in making three or four units. I would think we could get 25
owners together to get this job done.
I could not take anyone with me to Sun-N-Fun last year because I had to
belt
in my baggage to the right seat. I would like to consider the Y2K-2000
mile
trip next year. I need the baggage space sice I do not cherish wearing
the
same clothes for the entire trip!
Let's DO IT !
George Frebert
