Paul, I heard because of where it was located on the panel pilots where pulling the mixture out insted of the carb heat so they made a AD to wire it shut. This was done a long time ago. You don't have to lean a small engine that much. I have a mixture control on my Alon but only use it to shut down the engine or if I'm above 12,000'. gene
