Well, it COULD be crud in the fuel. Crud in the fuel will hold the needle open. More likely, though, is a buggered up needle and irregular seat which, when they get in the wrong position, jam open. I'm seeing an extra 100RPM on takeoff with my cleaned up carb and new needle and seat. If that's any comfort, you might find that, even at full throttle, things haven't been right for a while. I'm looking forward to checking my fuel consumption at cruise. I was losing about a gallon of gas a day through the carb. Now it looks like just about none. Get it fixed. Greg
