I noticed a news story today saying that federal regulators recently
proposed requiring major gasoline refiners to begin selling low-sulfur
fuel
by 2004.

BP Amoco PLC, the largest gasoline retailer in Chicago, will begin selling
low-sulfur premium gasoline Thursday at all its stations in the
eight-county
market. It's the first step in a plan to replace all the gasoline it sells
in Chicago -- including unleaded regular -- with low-sulfur fuel in a
little
more than a year.

I have heard it implied many times that one of the primary culprits in
sticking valves are sulfides. I can also remember it being said that
perhaps
that is why Marvel oil is effective, in that it breaks down sulfides.

As low sulfur mogas seems inevitable (thank goodness, for the sake of the
air we all breathe!) is it possible that this will have unexpected good
consequences for us? Is avgas already low-sulfur?

Warmest regards,
