The Alon N6596Q had a rough flight into Cooledge, Az. It encountered head
winds
of some 30 to 35 knots, forcing him to slow her down, the ride was any
thing but
smooth with severe turberlance...

He was 3 hours and 30 mins. where he as a rule is 3 hours....she was on
the
header tank at the 3 hour point taking some 40 mins to fly 70 miles.

On approach to the airport he was 2500 feet 20 miles out, the needle from
the
header tank was not moving.. he landed taking on some 22 gals of gas...

One plane did run out of gas and landed dead stick... it was a 140 cessna.

The Alon, came in third in its class. beat for the first time by a tail
dragger

Dan Hall flying a 0200 coupe that was bought from Don Wollard... took
second in
his division and did set down for fuel... he average 81 mph..

Bob Watson, flying his grummon was second in his divison.

N6596Q will fly back tomorrow from there and will set down for fuel at
Blythe or
Needles...
