Hello Friendly Coupers,

Today is ariport day at one of our small airports, Murray Field. Murray
Field is where our one and only local coupe lives. I finally got to meet
the owner today. I also got to meet his wife and grandson. Friendly,
great folks, just like you list members. No, I didn't get to ride in it,
but I just met the owner. I think it would have been too forward to ask
him right off! Anyway, I did get to hear it, see it take off, fly around,
and land. This is the first time I've ever heard one. Started right up.
So smooth. Neat sounding little engine. It's a '46, so it's a 75hp. Is
that correct? If I was enamored with the coupes before, I feel even more
enchanted by them after hearing one and watching it take off and land.

The owner told us he got it 19-20 years ago, for a good price, as a basket
case. He put it together and has been having a wonderful time with it
ever since. He sure keeps it in beautiful, beautiful condition.

Off topic, sort of, but it was a bonus for me. The Ercoupe owner had 2 of
his restored cars at the airport, too. A 1925 Chevy and a 1950 Chevy.
They were in excellent shape, just like his Coupe. His wife told me that
they like old things. Yeah, me too!

I appreciate the time, care, and craftmanship this man puts into his
machines. I suspect that many of you have the same pride in workmanship
and admiration for "special" vintage machines that my new friend does. I
applaud and thank you all.

Sincerely,
Georgia in Eureka
