I have been following the discussion on Carb Ice and also in testing for alcohol in fuel with interest. I also saw Steve Dold's reference to Skyranch's web site. I didn't know they had one. I had their book on (small?) engines and it's great. I gave it to someone. I went to the web site and it is a mine of information on engines.
In the column of items on the left of their sites main page I clicked on "Learn more about your engine". Then from that drop down list I clicked on "Carburetor ice". Very interesting and addresses the points being discussed. Of particular interest was the statement that "Adding alcohol to gasoline dramatically increases ambient tremperature where ice forms....." In other words ice occurs over a wider range of temperatures. Cliff.......
