My feelings are to start. Get a Temp gauge probe in the spider body just

after the carb. That way you know the temp an when to add carb heat. One
of
the worst experience I have had while flying was on departure. A friend
was
PIC in our CD. It was midmorning, we were departing down wind. Just
outside
of the pattern as I daydreamed and enjoyed the flight the airplane
shuddered
not once but twice. Got my attention real quick. Made a 180 turn into long

final asking other A/C to let us in now. Well, the tail was still there
all
were OK. The only cause anyone could come up with was Carb Ice break off
the
carb an being ingested into the engine.
Now I am much more of outside conditions both temp and humidity.
   Yours, Warren H.
