Fellow Alon drivers,

Is your airbox sealed to the nosebowl? My plane was cobbled
together from several other airframes and may not be
correctly/fully assembled - unfortunately, I see very few
other Alons so I don't know how what the airbox should look
like.

The problem:
On coupes I've seen, the typical airbox has a cylindrical
front opening and has flexible gasketing sealing it to the
front of the cowling. My Alon has a sheetmetal rectangular
airbox with a Brackett filter, typical of those installed in
other '60's vintage aircraft. The sheetmetal opening sits
approximately 2" behind the round opening in the nosebowl.
There is no attempt to seal it to the nosebowl.

Engine temperatures are cool and the plane runs well, but I
believe that sealing the airbox entrance to the nosebowl (as
in virtually all other aircraft) would provide more "ram
air," and thus slightly improved performance. HOW IS YOUR
AIRBOX CONSTRUCTED AND SEALED?
