Although when I take possession of my 415C it will have a fresh annual there are a couple of things that I'll want done.
The owner has added a "supplemental" elevator trim tab explaining that he can't get enough elevator trim. Any ideas on what brought this about? I been following the trim tab discussion, but it seems to mostly center on aileron trim, not elevator. I asked about transponder certification and he answered that no one bothered with it. Where in the Western Washington should I have this done at and how much should I expect to pay? I think it is due bi-annually. I would like to do my own weigh out of the aircraft. I don't necessarily want an official weight and balance with certified scales, but something to satisfy my own penchant for tinkering. Has anyone done this on their own? I have been following the landing gear sag discussion. Can the steel bellvue springs be fitted to the earlier models? If so wouldn't this be the best permanent solution? Does this require an STC? He has auto fuel stickers on the plane. I didn't notice any paper work on this. (I must admit I didn't really know what I should be looking for) Is the STC a log entry, or separate document or form? Before I ask this question, I must emphasize that my Ercoupe experience it VERY limited and took place in the dim past. When I rented Ercoupes, my experience consisted of Aeronca 7AC series, Cessna 120, 140, 170A &B types. My only tricycle gear experience was a tri-pacer. I remember the Ercoupe as being VERY easy to land and fly. Now you guys are making me wonder if perhaps the Ercoupe is more tricky that I had thought. Do you come in hot and put it on the ground while it is still flying like a wheel landing in a regular airplane. Or do you make final 10% or so over stall speed and flare so that the plane stalls as the wheels touch the ground? I hope I haven't bugged you with too many questions. Thanks Paul soon N2409H
