Hello All: I have been lurking on this list for a while. I have an inactive Pvt. SEL ticket (1310551) and am going to get active again.
I haven't flown since I sold my Aeronca 7AC many years ago. I am very seriously considering an Ercoupe. I rented one years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have looked at a number of pictures on the Web and have noticed all kinds of interiors. I have seen panels that look like a full gyro with a radio stack. Also very basic VFR panels. Are these different setups approved with STCs. Do most Ercoupes have electrical? Self starters? What percentage of planes have rudder pedals? How difficult is a conversion? I have seen aircraft advertised without radios or transponders. I shall need both where I live. How much should I budget for a usable radio and altitude encoding transponder? Where might I find books covering Ercoupe? Maintenance manuals? At a minimum a description of the various models with original engines and other equipment would be very helpful. I noticed an AD that seemed pretty extensive covering wing inspection. Are there many aircraft that haven't complied with this AD I hope I haven't worn out my welcome with too many questions.
