Jack...... That was an excellent and thorough response you made on painting an A/C. You sure hit the "rivet" on the head when you warned(twice)about sanding rivet heads. I saw an example of that. It made the plane "unairworthy" and was costly to correct. Also, as you warn, any silicone, which is tricky to remove, could mess up a paint job. I've also heard that if you plan to paint your plane don't spray the inside of metal wings with anti-corrosion liquids until after you've painted. Best Regards.....Cliff
