too old for clasic; not a recognized war bird, etc. What do you think?

I have an old friend that went to work for the EAA 30 years ago and is
about to retire. He is or was pretty high up in the organization and he
always gave me the impression that if it wasn't a tailwheel with a round
engine it wasn't a real airplane. Of course a war bird was acceptable to
him.
It will be interesting to see him when he returns to this area to retire.
Way
back then he owned a Luscombe 8A and wouldn't even look at an Ercoupe. I
have
many friends who own lots of high dollar antiques and warbirds and wonder
if
I will ever buy a real airplane.

PS I have 2 Coupes and fly a Boeing 727 for a living so maybe I know
something that they don't.
