The "GPS week 1024 roll-over" or "EOW" event which will occur August 21-22, 1999 is an important event for GPS receivers. This event, known as GPS week number rollover, refers to the week number transmitted in the satellite navigation message changing from 1023 to 0. This may cause some problems with older GPS units. If you are not already aware of it just go the web page for the manufacturer of your particular unit.
I called Gamin about trying to get a database update (not for the EOW issue) for my 55 AVD and was told it would be $125 to update the airport database, or $250 to convert it to a 95 XL with a moving map display. Not bad !
