That's an excellent idea. You are getting a recommendation from someone
who has their reputation tied up with the quality of work of the
mechanic.

I'd also try (if there's time) to put out a request here for a
mechanic. Leslie did that when she thought she might by the Indiana
Alon.

For Illinois, I'd certainly recommend John Wright Sr. or Jr.

John Sr. is "retired" and just works full-time as an A&P/AI,
concentrating on Coupes. John Wright, Jr., is thinking about quitting
his day job and doing full-time A&P and Ercoupe work. John, Jr. is a
member of this list so postings here will be seen by him.

Both do _excellent_ Coupe work and are a prime national resource for
Coupe maintenance. For an example of quality of workmanship, consider
John Jr's plane. If we can get him to bring his plane to the national
this year you'll recognize it -- it is the one you'll choose for
people's choice -- bettcha. He's won best Ercoupe and People's Choice
so many times he refused to enter the competition last year -- then the
judges overruled him and gave him the awards anyway. This year he's
threatening to not even bring it so someone else can win.
