Hey you Coupers!

Just a quick update since I haven't bothered all of you in a while (bwg)-
boy, I've racked up the hours in my Coupe- have a whoppin' 33 TT! Got a
new
instructor- that was sure a good move! The other one cared more about
doing
annuals than he did meeting his commitments. :(

The fellow I have now is great- an ex Eastern Airlines captain who also
use
to run a pretty big flight school in Washington. He's great- teaching me
all kinds of things that I'll keep with me my flying lifetime. His goal
(and I didn't even have to ask him!) is for me to have my ticket by
Arlington! Can't wait to join all you others in the parking area (all you
Oregon Coupers better be there- if I'm going to bust my butt to get my
license you better get those planes put back together!!!!!! lol...)

The other morning I took a nice 300 mile XC. On one leg I had about a
good 20 mph tailwind and the leg didn't have too many definite checkpoints
so I ended up at the town a lot earlier than I expected. Boy, you sure
have
a lot of thoughts running around when you are just *positive* that you
can't
be where you think you are! Ok, lets circle the town and make sure I'm
where I'm supposed to be, oh good, there's the airport!

Tonight we're going night flying for my dual night XC. I guess the
biggest
hazard is the deer and antelope on the runway here. My instructor
recommends first "buzzing" the runway at about 20' to scare them off and
then come around again and land. Should be interesting!

The Coupe's running like a top. I finally put my ailerons where they
should
have been- hinges *under* the trailing edge. Made all the difference in
the
world in aileron response- nice and smooth now. My climb seems to be up
as
well- haven't noticed too much in the cruise area through I need to go run
some GPS legs to find out.

Got the Coupe all polished up. Looks a *lot* better! My instructor
recommended a cleaner/polish in a bright green bottle called 2001 and he
was
right- the stuff really works!!! Cleans and polishes at the same time,
really! Try it, I think you'll agree.

Well keep up the Coupe's a flying and if you ever get the urge to come
down
where its dry and sunny (and windy right now) then swing on by Central
Oregon and I'll show you the sights!
