Jim, thanks for the reply, I am aware of inductive kick, where would automobiles be without it. There is a diode across the solendoid and I knew it was there for that purpose. But I didn't feel that the field circuit would need one so disregarded the idea. Guess it makes sense. The rest of the electrical system was ok, except that all of the wiring is way over sized. An example is the landing lights, they have #10 shielded wire running to each landing light. In fact, all of the wiring in the Coupe is shielded and every wire is grounded at both ends.
