Dear Fellow Coupers,
Thanks for the info. I guess old 27 will stay a 65. I did some
further
research and found the overhaul paperwork and it is and always was a 65.
It is
fitted with a Mccauley 1b90cm prop and it turns at 2150,so as per the TC,
it
is legal (I was a little nervous there for a while!)
Since I have only had the machine for less than a month and only
logged
about 4 hours I will try to answer the questions as best I can . My total
ercoupe hours are pushing 10 so I am no way close to being an expert.
Performance.- It flys Identical to the 1946 75 horse coupes that I have
flown, however my friend's Alon A-2 blows the doors off her.
Electrical system- Since the A-65 will not support a starter or
generator,
this coupe has a wind driven generator and a battery for the nav lights
and
radio which is a Narco 77 comnav. It will be removed since it is not legal
anymore and wieghs over 9 pounds. It will be replaced with a hand held
gps/comm.
It also has a vaccuum driven gyro that makes as much noise as the engine,
so
that will also be dealt with latter if santa is good to me!
It still has the old gear and small tires which visually set it apart and
has
Hayes brakes. I will probably keep all that since I intend to keep her as
unique and vintage as safety and practicality will allow.
I will try to send pictures of her as soon as I learn how (I am also
barely
computer literate, thus timid).
I am sure that most folks are tired of my rantings so I will close now.
I
hope this answers your questions. Thanks again for the past info for
without
this mail list I might have been reluctant to buy such a fine aircraft.
