Your dampner sounds real appealing. If it had been available a few years ago before I changed my nose fork, I would have certainly wanted to try it. The next paragraph tells why I changed to a double fork and the trade off of changing to a double fork; trade off between potentially eliminating shimmy (which it did 99% of the time), and raised the nose thus lowereing the tail as a result of the change. Question, can the dampner be applied to the double fork assembly as well as the single fork assembly? Thev've been putting shimmy dampners on Jeeps for years for the very same reason, shimmy.
I have changed to a double fork, which is taller. The result is a lower tail. I wish I could put a smaller tire on the front and get it back down to the original lower height. But tire change ain't approved because of certification of the double fork with the 5" tire. Actually, both tires standing side by side are about the same height but the sum of the 5" tire and the double fork hardware results in a higher nose; at least this is the case with my coupe. (5.00 x 4 vs. 5.00 x 5) the reason I changed to the double was to eliminate shimmy. Also, I replaced the steering rod with the heavier duty one with a better type rod end because mine shimmed so bad once, it broke the little ball off the original type one that I had on it. A word about shimmy. When it starts, turn the wheel slightly left (or right, depending) to put a side load on it or change the neutral load condition in which it is 's-h-im-m-m-i-n-gggggg.' This one, for me, is text only. Thanks. ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
