Bob, appreciate your thoughts on the post crash fires cited in the recent AOPA article. Yes, that was the recent and only source of my information; my never having heard that one before. I've had my coupe since 1982 and have appreciated the simplicity and reliability of the fuel system, still do. That is why I haven't opted for any conversion such as Skyport's conversion kit. I have noted, however, that one of the selling points of the long range conversion sold by Skyport is that it touts the removal of the center tank from the cockpit area. Of the Ercoupe off field landings, fender benders, that I know of by others, there was no post crash fire. I still long for the safest type tanks available. If the original tanks are just as safe as any, that's good. I am open to learn any and all information on this subject.
