I've hand propped my Coupe at least 20 times in the 17 years I've owned
it. Never
had a problem. My flight instructor years ago told me I should remove my
hat, my
sunglasses and anything in my shirt pocket before hand propping, placing
them
inside the airplane. Why? In case one of those things fell on the ground
just as
the engine starts, a person could try to reach for it, quickly shortening
their
arm! I have always done this.
I don't swing my leg either. I feel more secure having both feet firmly
on the
ground, backing away quickly as I pull the blade down.
