Shielded wiring is not needed in anything but mag P leads, spark plug wires, AND ANYTHING ELSE REQUIRING IT. An example of another required use is in some strobe, autopilot, or audio wiring.
Very important considerations in completing your wiring are:
(1) Use wire rated for the current to be carried. See AC43.
(2) When using crimp connection or terminations, buy a
professional ratchet type crimper such as AMP or T&B. They
will cost $60 to over $100. Also be sure to use a wire
stripper which does not nick the wires.
(3) Use crimp terminals purchased from an aircraft
supplier. Do not use auto quality terminals.
If you have an ADF or Loran, the aircraft's wiring need not
be shielded, but wire size in the charging circuitry (to
prevent voltage drops) is even more important, and the
condition of the generator and regulator are also important.
Additional filters may also be needed.
