This is sort of interesting.

I just saw an Alon A2 at the local wrecking yard.  It was all 
bent up, and I wrote down the tail number and looked it up in the 
NTSB database when I got back to work.  It turns out that it had nosed
over after an engine failure, but when I saw it the canopy frame was 
only slightly distorted, flattened a little on the top of the windscreen.

That canopy frame is a lot stronger than it looks.
