OK. But why shouldn't the backed speak SMTP with the frontend? We do
that here. It works. We don't have to use cyrus-from-hell. Life is well!

Hmm, I don't see an advantage here.

That's not true. There's almost NO difference between LMTP and SMTP (in
Postfix, the lmtp and smtp deamon are implemented by the same program).
