I can't understand this. The chappie is talking about upgrading Courier IMAP. In my maillog Courier's imapd records both login UID and the IP address from which it comes. Logwatch on my Red Hat RHL5/FC6 machines gives a fine summary of these, each day at 04:+ CE(S)T. It also records logouts. This was one of the principal reasons I chose to use up-imapproxy for webmail users - to cut down unnecessary connections to localhost.
