Hello list,

I am new to this list so please don't hit me if I do something wrong. ;)

For some weeks now I have an annoying problem: In one of my
imap-accounts every few minutes I am notified of a new mail but when I
look into it there's no new mail in my inbox.

A rebuild of the index with thunderbird didn't bring any change.

I am assured that this problem is situated in the mail account itself
because other accounts on this server don't show this behavior.

Since I am not very familiar with the inner structure of courier I'm a
bit lost.

Is there any way someone can help me fix this?

There's not enough information here to offer any tips. One aspect of IMAP is that there are two or three mailbox properties that can be interpreted as "new mail", and "new mail" may mean different things to different mail clients.

For example, each message in a mailbox has its own individual "unread" flag. One mail client may claim there's new mail in the mailbox if any message in the mailbox has the unread flag set. A different mail client may ignore the unread flag completely, and simply keep track of the individual messages, and report new mail if there are messages in a mailbox that the mail client never opened, even if those messages do not have the "unread" flag set.

Without knowing how your mail client works, it's not really possible to tell you what's going on. Your best bet is do use the mailing list or a support forum for your mail client, and ask for help over there.
