Now I know that at least some of those messages have been caused by a 
user who was trying to access the IMAP mailbox with Thunderbird 1.0, and 
failed. After upgrading to Thunderbird 2.0 and changing the setting from 
SSL (TB 1.0 supports no TLS) to TLS made it work again, and there were 
no such error messages at the times when he accessed his mailbox again. 
But I have reason to believe that this was not the only cause of those 
messages.

Have there been any changes between Courier-IMAP 4.1.0 and 4.4.1 and 
Courier-authlib 0.58 and 0.61.0 that affect SSL support?
