tuffmail hosts my email. I use thunderbird email client to connect to
that IMAP server, as well as to a courier-imap server that I have
installed on a local ubuntu server box. From time to time, as I start
approaching quota in the tuffmail server, I move mail to my local
server, and for a very long time (many years) this has worked great.
However, I have started having a weird problem regarding attachments:

If I copy / move over a mail with attachment in it to the local
courier-imap server, the mail gets copied / moved, but I can no longer
open the attachment. I get an error message that "This attachment
appears to be empty". However, if I copy / move it over back to the
remote tuffmail server, I can open the attachment again. Standard pdf
attachments, less than 100k in size. It is not that I can not open any
attachments in the local courier-imap server. I have mail there that are
many years old, and many with attachments - I can open those attachments
without any problems. It is just that I can not move any other new mail
with attachment in it and still have the attachment accessible.
Thunderbird sees the mail with attachment, just gives that error message
while trying to open it.

Disk space is not a problem. There are 100s of GB free space on the
server, and I have not set any quota or anything. Currently the Maildir
is about 1.2GB is size

I do realize it would be better to diagnose the problem without using
Thunderbird, and I am open to any suggestions on what to do or what data
I can provide to the list to understand what is going on.

Many thanks,
Abhijit
