Sorry for the lengthy question, but here it is in a nutshell: how can i
get the webmail MUA to present mail from=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
instead of being from=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
...if that didn't make a concise question, here's the whole story:
While composing an earlier message to this list via my courier-0.34.0
webmail interface I get a delayed mail warning like this:

Here's what I see: adriatic.int.topsecret.net is the private, internal
hostname of the machine that runs courier and the webmail server.
Whenever I log in to the webmail server I see
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" at the top of the page. of course, I
have changed the From: field to include my public "name" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
(which is what is in the file "me" in courier's/etc directory) and when I
send a message to another account my MUA username is what shows up in the
headers, but the log shows that my private (and non-routeable) host was
used in the SMTP transaction. Here are two examples, both sent via
webmail:
