Hello.

I'm having a problem with getting LDAP aliasing to work. I've read the
Installation and FAQ documents, Googled the net and searched the
10k subjects of messages in the courier-user list archives, all to
no avail.

Here is the situation:

I have a LDAP-driven virtual account user(at)ziklo.ngo.pl. Sending
mail to this account works fine.

I have set up an LDAP alias alias(at)ziklo.ngo.pl pointing to
user(at)ziklo.ngo.pl.

courierldapaliasd is running and recognizes the alias correctly:
batyskaf:~# courierldapaliasd query esmtp alias(at)ziklo.ngo.pl
maildrop: user(at)ziklo.ngo.pl

Alas, I'm not able to send mail to alias(at)ziklo.ngo.pl:
mozilla mail agent repors error 'User unknown'.

I precieve that the MTA contacts the courierldapaliasd during the
delivery process, because if I kill the latter process sending
any mail to my domain fails with 'Service temporary unavailable'
error.

On the other hand, If I put "alias2: user" entry into the
/etc/courier/aliases/system file and run makealiases I can send
email to alias2(at)ziklo.ngo.pl with no problems.

While playing around with aliases.dat style aliasing I also discovered that
killing the courierldapaliasd when an aliases.dat file is present
causes deliveries to local addresses and invalid addreses fail with
'Service temporary unavailable' error, but deliveries to aliases
defined in aliases.dat are work successfully.

I hope someone can point the missing piece of the puzzle to me.
I can provide more verbose information / run more tests if neccesary.
Thanks in advance.

Rafal

PS. I'm using debian packages ver. 0.37.3-4
