Yes. The newer version will be installed with its config files, but
the upgrade will migrate your settings from the old config files to the
new ones.

Your old configuration will still be preserved, when you run "make
install-configure". Courier ships with a tool called sysconftool, and
it takes care of migrating settings from the old files to the new.

RPM is still better though.
