So what you're saying is that you created all your local users with the
domain name as part of the username?

Well, it is only relvant in a handful of configurations. What the FAQ would
really need to say to cover this is:
If you mis-configure your server, try correcting the configuration.

I use virtual mailboxes, yet my domain name is listed in locals, not
hosteddomains.

My usernames do not include the domain name.
