Hi this is the second time I send this message. I didn't even get the
flamme answer telling me to RTFM. I may get more lucky this time.

I am running qmail and I would like a secure imap access to my mail
server.

I have installed Openssh then courrier imap by simply running ./configure
without arguments. The documentation states that theconfigure scrip should
take care of thee ssl portion if ssl is installed.
I then linked the imapd-ssl.rc to start automatically. I allowed connection
through my firewall.

running nmap 192.168.1.3 gives:
Port State Service
25/tcp open smtp
993/tcp open imaps

So the service seems to be there. If telnet to the port I get
"escape char is ...."

I use Kmail as MUA and I receive my mail directly from qmail to ~/Maildir.
If I disable the normal Maildir receiver an add an imap receiver, I don't
get anything at all.

when setting up the imap receiver in Kmail, I give the local adress
192.168.1.3 and 993 port. It set the receiver so it will use ssl for the
download. it then ask for an authentication method. I am a bit lost here,
I'd like to get the most secure option. Also note that, in my
imapd-ssl.rc, LIBAUTHMODULES="". I tried with LIBAUTHMODULES="authshadow
authpwd" but it didn't work better

I get the error message "can't connect to 192.168.1.3"

Please point me in some direction or give me some tests to run or send me
to hell but don't let me remove courier-imap to install something else.

Nadim.
