 | Hi Ed,
 |
 | Yes. It's my understanding that the ldap aliasing in courier
 | requires that the attribute values for recipents must contain
 | an email address (much like the mail attribute). What I'm looking
 | for is the ability to use a dn type attribute. Both the groupofnames
 | and groupofuniquenames are such classes. They contain member
 | and uniquemember attributes. These attributes are distinguised
 | name for entries. Each entry is a member of the group. I'd like to
 | be able to send mail to an address which is a mail attribute on
 | a class derived from one of these groups and have the message
 | go to all memebers who have a mail attribute.
 |
 | I'm of the understaindg that Courier can't do what I'm looking
 | for as is. Am I mistaken? I'd love it if I were.

AFAIK, you are correct. I've used groups for acl's but not much more.
I have never contemplated using them for aliases or group emails.
Interesting thought but between mailing lists and aliases my
simple needs are pretty well covered. I am also somewhat uncomfortable
with having a large number of groups because of maintenance issues that
I haven't taken the time to deal with in an orderly fashion.

Sorry that I couldn't be of more help,

ed
