Thanks for your help.

How do I find out what version I have? I think I have 1.4.0.

I couldn't find the file /etc/courier/imapd, I did find an imapd in 
/usr/lib/courier-imap/etc/imapd though... so I added it there.

I delete my .Trash folder and it reappears if I delete a message and then 
expunge my inbox using pine. Am I doing something wrong?
