dselect? If you are running stable, try moving up to sarge or if you very daring, sid (unstable).
The debian packages tend to run a bit behind the most recent release, but are usually pretty "safe" in that they are stable and mostly bug free. If you want to change anything like the badly formated Mime type behavior you will probably want to get the debian source package, edit it and then build rather than just using the default package. If you want the most absolutly up to date version you will probably need to get the real source and then use the debian package building tools to make your own package and then install it. David.
