I don't have any experience with virtual mailboxes, but I'm using Spamassassin with xfilters and Maildrop. Pretty simple, I switched the delivery method to maildrop, then created an include file (I named it GlobalFilters) in the /usr/lib/courier/etc/maildroprcs directory with the 'xfilter "spamassassin -a"' command (leave off the single quotes). I then included that file into the maildroprc file with 'include /usr/lib/courier/etc/maildroprcs/GlobalFilters' so the xfilter would run globally. QED
