Here is the ls -l, of /home, /home/luked, and /home/luked/Maildir,
respectively. While I see some group mismatch, I doubt it is the problem
(maybe be quite wrong here):


drwxrwsr-x    5 root     staff        4096 Oct 18 19:45 home/
drwxr-xr-x    4 luked    1000         4096 Oct 24 17:23 luked/
-rw-------    1 luked    users         915 Oct 24 17:19 Maildir

As the POP3 server says, Maildir is not a directory. Courier works with Maildirs, not MBOX files, though the SMTP server can write to MBOX files. Start with the installation instructions on courier.org, and try man maildirmake for some more info.
