I tried that, and didn't have any luck... then I figured out the problem...
I was trying to avoid running the fam program on my public interface... In
doing so it was running on my private interface but not on localhost.

Is there a way to specify the IP that libfam tries to connect to within
courier?

Yes I could run it on all interfaces and firewall the ones I don't want
used, but as a rule I try to avoid running things I don't want used AND
firewall them - then if there is ever a firewall error I haven't left too
much exposed.
