What does the softdnserr mean? Why don't I see it with every message?

It means that one of the following things has happened when trying to resolve the connecting IP address backwards and forwards, via DNS:

â The DNS server did not respond

â The DNS server responded with a TEMPFAIL error indication

â The forward and reverse DNS does not match

If your local DNS server cannot handle forward/reverse DNS resolution for
127.0.0.1, then something is seriously broken.
