Since the "Maildir" *is* the inbox, the answer is no. But clients can choose to display the folders any way they wish. I guess I've gotten used to seeing them all under Inbox, but I agree this is a peculiar side-effect of using Maildirs.

I figured out it was the permissions of the Maildir.
While we are on the topic. Is there a way to create a folder that is not
under the Inbox?

Thanks,

Then next steps would be to ensure that imapd is running as your user,
for your connection, and that the permissions of the Maildir
directories are consistent with that. Anything interesting in your
syslog (or whether you have logs directed)?

  Yes I am.

Are you creating it underneath the Inbox?

I just got Courier-Imap up and running (can get into my Inbox!). I
am now
trying to create folders under my IMAP connection, that way I can sort my
mail.

I keep getting an error about not being able to create the folder. Are
there
some basic settings I am missing, or somewhere I can read further about
this?
