i just installed courier-imap on a new machine, and i'm getting the
following in /var/log/maillog:
imapd: chdir "/var/mail/vmail": Permission denied
would make sense, if the permissions were incorrect. but, here's a line
from userdb:
home=/var/mail/vmail|uid=2000|mail=/var/mail/vmail/Maildir-brian|gid=2000
( imappw intentionally deleted )
the directory permissions for Maildir-brian:
drwx------ 6 vmuser vmuser 512 Jul 22 22:52 .
drwxrwx--- 3 root mail 512 Jul 27 03:01 ..
drwx------ 10 vmuser vmuser 512 Jul 28 13:32 Maildir-brian
and, the line from /etc/passwd:
vmuser::2000:2000::0:0:mail user:/var/mail/vmail:/nonexistent
the UID/GID in userdb matches both /etc/passwd *and* the directory
permissions for the maildir ... why am i getting bounced from 'unable to
chdir' ?
