dear scott,
please quote to courier-users as i am not subscribed.

[Sebastian]:
no, not really. see, courier can filter directly WHEN talking to remote
MTAs. but, considering virtual mailboxes, that is of little use, because
you cannot distinguish your users settings. the $HOME of the virtual
user is defined in mysql, so maildrop needs to get that itself OR get it
elsewhere, e.g. from courier-authlib. as maildrop's ./configure has
--with-mysql, i see that as the best solution, because it's supported
upstream.
[Scott]:
Of course, the various --with-mysql/ldap bits he refers to *used to*
work even when passed to the maildrop within the courier tree. I've seen
requests for that at least as far back as courier 0.45.2. What this also
implies is that people have been using, even if unofficially, the
overloaded maildrop for some time (all without breaking courier's
ability to deliver mail). What I was hoping to get out of this was, even
if maildrop+authlib is not the default when part of the full courier,
that it could at least be passed the build flags to activate it.

Bottom line for me is that enough requests for sql/ldap hit my desk that
I'm trying to make it happen. People will find ways that they like to
use your programs that never crossed your mind when they were first
developed, even I surely have some nontraditional setups too. But I
wouldn't have it any other way.

Never mind.
